Organizer of the Department of Ophthalmology, the founder of the educational and medical work was honored worker of science, MD, Professor Alexander G. Trubin (1876-1946). The department was created in 1920 at the Tashkent University of Central Asian, in a former military hospital, where in 1923 a professor turbine AG was organized by the scientific circle ophthalmologists.
Ophthalmology Service of Uzbekistan in those years was a 2 departments with 45 beds, employing 4 ophthalmologist.
In the years 1924-1931 the department in charge of MD, Professor Alexander Murzin (1885-1954). In 1931, the Department of Ophthalmology has been translated to the clinic of eye diseases in the old territory of today’s Tashkent Medical Academy. Along with the improvement of teaching methodologies, A.N. Murzin also founded ophthalmological centers in Karakalpakstan, Khorezm, Kashkadarya and other fields for the treatment of trachoma, conjunctivitis and glaucoma. In 1926 he founded the Scientific Society of Ophthalmologists of Uzbekistan for training young professionals.
From 1932 to 1953, headed the Department Honored Scientist of Uz SSR, MD, Professor Peter F. Archangel (1893-1959), who is the author of over 100 scientific papers on ocular manifestations in glaucoma, typhus and brucellosis. In 1936, the center opened P.F.Arhangelsky ocular prostheses, in 1940 founded the clinic for the treatment of trachoma and prepared 2 doctors and 2 candidates. Peter F. Arkhangelsk was organized classes on eye diseases at the four major departments of Tashkent State Medical Institute.
In 1953-1957, Professor Sofia Popova (1889-1961) headed the Department of Ophthalmology Tashkent State Medical Institute, it has been defended his doctoral dissertation on “Eye leishmaniasis”, what made a great contribution to the study of eye diseases. She has published over 25 scientific papers. Sofia Alekseev Popov – organizer and participant “eye units” who went to the periphery to combat eye diseases, organizer histopathological museum.
From 1957 to 1969, headed the Department veteran of the Second World War, one of the first Uzbek ophthalmologists, Honored Doctor of the Uzbek SSR, PhD, associate professor Qosimov Tursun Ёkub coal (1912-1972). Along with the medical and teaching activities, he has developed and implemented the practice of ophthalmology surgical methods for the treatment of ocular pathology, and was recognized as one of the most eminent surgeons in Uzbekistan. Trachoma, glaucoma and ocular injuries were the main themes of his 40 scientific papers. TE Kasymov trained 3 candidates. Organizer and participant in the struggle to eliminate trachoma in KKASSR in our republic.
In 1969, PhD and the first woman doctor of science in Central Asia, an experienced clinician and ophthalmic surgeon, Professor Mukhtar Hamidova was elected to the post of head of the department. More than 150 scientific papers it were devoted to urgent problems of ophthalmology as glaucoma, cataracts, and others. She was a pioneer in the study of embryogenesis eyeball and toxoplasmosis body of the former Soviet Union.
Professor Mukhtar Hamidovna Hamidova became head of the Department of Ophthalmology 2 medical faculty. In 1996, she produced and released the first textbook of eye diseases for medical students in the Uzbek language in Cyrillic and in 2006 the textbook has been revised and re-released on the Latin alphabet. MH Khamidov is the author of Russian-Uzbek dictionary ophthalmology, which is popular in the practice of doctors of all specialties. Prepared her students now work successfully leading ophthalmologists in Uzbekistan and beyond.
In 1976, two Department of Ophthalmology were established on the basis of Tashkent State Medical Institute. Professor Tatyana Ilina, Honored Worker of Sciences of Uzbekistan, headed the department of one of the medical faculty for 17 years, she has published more than 120 scientific papers on the pathology of ocular microcirculation, the pathogenesis of glaucoma and their treatments. She has trained more than 16 candidates. She was actively involved in the elimination of trachoma and glaucoma prevention in Uzbekistan. To this end, under her leadership were created offices of glaucoma in many regions of the country.
After the Tashkent State Medical Institute in 1990, was divided into 1 and 2 Tashkent State Medical Institute, Associate Professor Alisher Rakhimovich Khudoiberdiev became the head of the department at the Tashkent State Medical Institute 1 in the period from 1991 to 2002. In 1991-2002, he served as chief ophthalmologist of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan. He is the author of 90 scientific articles, 1 monograph and 8 copyright licenses. Under his leadership, were protected by 8 PhD theses.
From 1990 to 1997, the department in charge at 2 Tashkent State Medical Institute Associate Professor Teshavoy Nazarovich Avazov, from 1997 to 2014. Department is headed by Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Fazilat Arifovna Bahritdinova.
In 2005, through the merger of 1 and 2 Tashkent State Medical Institute was established Tashkent Medical Academy. MD, professor Fazilat Arifovna Bahritdinova was elected head of the Department of Ophthalmology combined TMA, where it works to this day.
Professor Fazilat Arifovna Bahritdinova is a full member of the Association of Ophthalmologists of the CIS and the Society of Ophthalmologists of Turkic-speaking countries, the Deputy Chairman of the Scientific Council 16.07.2013.Tib.17.01 at the Tashkent Medical Academy, the scientific seminar at the Scientific Council for the award of the degree of Doctor of Medical Sciences, chairman of the monothematic Commission of ophthalmology at the MoH, expert Pharmacological Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and a member of the National Bioethics Committee of Uzbekistan, a member of the Association of Women of the East.
Professor Fazilat Arifovna Bahritdinova author of over 200 scientific papers, guidelines and manuals. She has trained 26 candidates and 6 doctors of medical sciences.
Since 2014 the department is headed by Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Bilalov Erkin Nozimovich.
Professor Bilalov Erkin Nozimovich is a member of the Society of Ophthalmologists of Turkic-speaking countries, the Scientific Council of 16.07.2013.Tib.17.01 at Tashkent Medical Academy, and a member of the scientific secretary of scientific seminar at the scientific council for awarding the degree of Doctor of Medical Sciences and monothematic Commission in ophthalmology at MoH . He supervised 1 PhD and 14 Masters.
Professor Bilalov Erkin Nozimovich author of over 100 scientific papers, guidelines and manuals, including patents for inventions and innovations.
