Clinical Residency

             Clinical residency in ophthalmology has the goal of producing a highly qualified doctor – an ophthalmologist for work in all parts of the health care of the republic.
The task of the resident is to deepen the knowledge of ophthalmology, develop the skills of clinical thinking and skill, to work independently with scientific literature, to master the skills of performing additional survey methods, to interpret them, to master the methods of organizing ophthalmologic treatment and prophylactic institutions, to get acquainted with rare and difficult in diagnostic terms diseases.

The curriculum for the training of clinical residents in the specialty “ophthalmology”, developed in accordance with the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On Education”, the requirements of the National Program for training personnel on the continuity of education, the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan. № 319 from 18.12.2009. “Regulations on clinical residency”, Order of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan. № 202 from July 12, 2012, as well as the current regulatory documents of higher education, the Ministry of Health.

This training program is designed for physicians who study in clinical residency in the specialty “ophthalmology”. The program is designed for 2 years. Full-time form of education. The program provides for the development of a number of sections on related specialties.
In this program, special attention is given to highlighting the issues of modern diagnostics and high-tech treatments for various eye diseases (phacoemulsification of cataracts, vitreoretinal surgery, non-penetrating anti-glaucoma operations, etc.).
In the first year of training attention is paid to the development of the clinical resident of the history of ophthalmology, anatomical and functional features and methods of examination of the eye, diseases of the adnexa of the eye, conjunctiva and sclera, abnormalities of eye refraction, diseases of the optic media of the eyeball.
In the second year of training, the clinical resident should master the pathology of intraocular pressure, diseases of the choroid, retina and optic nerve, trauma to the eye, onco-ophthalmology, questions of medical and labor expertise in ophthalmology. The program provides for the development of a number of sections on related specialties.

In the training of clinical residents, new pedagogical technologies will be used, such as brainstorming, cystechnology.
Practical skills for which you need to pay attention – biomicroscopy, ophthalmoscopy, tonometry, A- and B-scan, determination of clinical eye refraction (skiascopy, refractometry), determination of the degree of astigmatism and direction of the main axes, methods for examining the patency of lacrimal passages (test with collargol, contrast radiography), ophthalmoscopy (direct and reverse) with the help of mirror, electric, binocular head and nonreflex ophthalmoscopes, gonioscopy, determination of the depth of the anterior amers and width rosy – corneal angle indicative methods tonography, loading and unloading of the sample in the diagnosis of glaucoma, electrophysiological studies, fluorescein angiography, x-ray diagnosis in ophthalmology, a technique of localization of intraocular foreign bodies, ocular development procedures.
The main social problems of science are the development of new methods of prevention, early diagnosis and effective treatment of such socially important diseases as glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, progressive myopia, retinal degeneration of various genesis, corneal opacity, etc.
The relationship between a specialist and patients is based on knowledge of the basics of medical ethics and deontology.
Expected results – the program of training in clinical residency will allow to prepare qualified specialists – ophthalmologists for independent work in medical – preventive specialized eye departments.
